Alyse Parker, an influencer and “mindset coach” with over 210,000 followers on Instagram, is under fire over a recent post where she claimed that “money is merely a form of energetic exchange.”

She wrote in a post that if people changed their “mindset” about money, it could improve their financial standing. After heavy criticism calling Parker’s post “privileged,” the influencer is addressing the controversy.

“I understand that my perspective on money is triggering to some people who are currently experiencing financial hardship,” she said to BuzzFeed News in a statement. “But the point I want to get across is that keeping a closed mind is only going to keep them there.”

Parker has also deleted most comments criticizing her post because she doesn’t believe they came from “a place of constructive criticism.”

She also tells BuzzFeed that she herself had struggled financially and was even on food stamps.

“I was keeping myself stuck by making money the bad guy, until one day I read a book called You Are A Badass At Making Money. I was triggered. And then I realized I had the power to change my circumstances,” she says.
