Taylor Swift covers Rolling Stone, talks Kanye, politics, + more

I hadn’t done a @RollingStone cover in 5 years, and hadn’t seen @hiattb since I got in 2 car crashes while driving him around during our interview in 2012. 🤦‍♀️ There were no cars driven this time, but we had a lot to catch up on.

Wow I can’t imagine chasing after someone’s respect after they disrespected me once, forget twice or three times. It not like they were ever close.

Some people can't help it. You shouldn't judge. I'm a people pleaser and if I could just turn that shit off, I would in a heartbeat. Fortunately, it's never really too late to learn that some people's opinion of you or your irrational behavior just does not matter, and speaks more about them than it does you.

Oh I don't judge at all, I have my own things that I can't really help too. Sometimes we're just hardwired a certain way and it takes a lot of work to change those habits.

It happened when she was pretty young, right? And it was so public that I can imagine it was a really big deal to her at the time, and he was/is a prominent figure in music. So I can see how it could become important to her to gain his respect. I think it's more of a symbolic thing at that point.

i def can't now but i can see it if i was young and someone thought to be a genius in my field publicly disrespected me and essentially told me that someone else deserved recognition over me. like if you take it just on that, i can absolutely see wanting to get their acknowledgement.

Being a people pleaser, I think I can sort of understand it. I've never been in a situation like this though so I can't say for sure. It's interesting that she's never been to therapy, because there are definitely a few things she expresses here that therapy could help her with immensely, especially in terms of her always wanting to be good and be liked, and how she would change things about herself in response to criticism. I feel like therapy has helped me a lot with similar sorts of things so I kind of want to shake her and go "never going to therapy isn't a badge of honor! Do it, you have unlimited resources to be able to benefit from it!"
