September 10, 2019 After receiving the Golden Lion in Venice 'Joker' went on to receive more positive reviews at the Toronto International Film Festival.
The only way a brilliant dark 70s movie like Joker could get made by a studio today was to hitch a ride on established IP. This isn’t about DC. It’s about chaos. And Joaquin Phoenix deserves an Oscar run. So do the craftspeople who made this impeccably crafted movie.

September 10, 2019 #Joker is DARK. Really violent, and Joaquin Phoenix’s performance is astounding. Crowd gasped and said “oh my god” several times. Need some time to think about this psychological thriller.

September 10, 2019 #Joker is one of the most unnerving movies I've seen in years. Joaquin Phoenix is astounding - the physicality of his work is especially impressive. It's very well made across the board but I also found it very upsetting & right now I can't shake that. Need to sit with this more.

September 10, 2019 #Joker: Wow. Joaquin Phoenix and Todd Phillips summon dark mojo for a descent into madness, for the origin story to beat all origin stories. Forget comic books -- this is disturbingly too close to modern alienation to be dismissed as mere fantasy.

September 10, 2019 #Joker is an extremely ultra violent tale but it’s also a concerning commentary on mental illness, class, feeling ostracized from society. It’s really chilling to watch.
