i just saw IT2 and did anyone else think jessica chastain was........bad? lmao i generally really like her as an actress, but she was just awful in this. like that scene where she finds eddie with the knife wound, i was like 'what is this days of our lives acting jessica!' i thought virtually every other cast member did a better job than her, even the no-names like used-to-be-fat guy

she was pretty bad, but tbf, they didn't give her much to do besides scream and kiss the other losers.

MTE. They literally made her a damsel in distress in all the darn scenes.

Amy Adams would be perfect:

Sophia played her younger version in Sharp Objects so I think they probably just didn't want to overdo that.

The director worked with her in 'Mama' and had planned for her since the beginning. There was even going to be a post-credits scene for the first film with Chastain that was scrapped.

I see Kristen Wiig... but it would have been overkill if two snl alumns were in this "comedy" lol

Maybe I was biased going in bc I wanted Amy for the role but I didn't like Jessica in this at all.

IA I didn't see any of Sophia's Bev in her

i get what you mean. i think that was ultimately directing and editing though considering how inconsistent all of the effects, performances, and tone are. i thought the movie overall was weirdly silly and not grounded enough and so many moments came off as ridiculous, bad or ridiculously bad.

i oscillated between 😐 and

I honestly never thought Chastain was that great of an actress to begin with and this movie didn't help move my opinion on her.

I don’t think she was bad but she didn’t feel like the same character as Sophia’s Bev. Also she’s not a scream queen, she’s like. A badass ice queen

I just got home from seeing it and I agree with you. I didn't think she was bad, but she felt pretty different from Sophia's Bev. I kept thinking that Sophia's Bev always had a little edge and spunk to her that we didn't really see in adult Bev

I just saw her as herself and not the character like I’m supposed to. Amy Adams would have been better. She even looks like Sophia. The director only went with Jessica cause he worked with her before.
