If you don't need it before it gets cold this year, wait until they go on sale in Nov./Dec./Jan. when they start bringing out the spring stuff. That's how I got my $100 winter jacket 50% off in November.

March is apparently the best time to buy winter coats?

Winter coats are definitely expensive - I'm lucky I have a hand me down from my mother that fits me well and I've worn it for years. I don't think she paid more than about $100 for it, but it was worth way more than that at the retail price.

I need a new winter coat. I’ve been wearing the same long puffy Michael Kors one for like...good god...6 or 7 winters? It’s been beat up as hell and I just keep muscling through/getting it dry cleaned every year to perk it up.

does it still keep you warm? I also have a puffy down Michael Kors jacket (from the diffusion line, not collection lol) that I got from the mall for like, $150 from years and years ago, and it's held up really well. I'm the most cold intolerant person ever (I don't use A/C in the summer) but it keeps me warm in 25°F temps+windchill, even though it's only hip-length and I usually don't layer too much (like a thin sweater).

I love the jacket and wish I could just buy it every decade or however long it takes to fall apart lmao but I feel like new versions don't seem as durable or have as much filling :(

i've had my canada goose coat for 7 years and it's my only actually expensive piece of clothing. we've been through a lot together so i thought i'd get the same coat again and is2g, their cost has literally doubled since then. i saw those prices and decided that it actually looks very nice for its age, we're staying together for a little while longer

I love when I find good shit on sale like that. My old winter coat was originally $300 and I got on sale for just under $100. It would be close to a decade old now if the house fire a few years ago hadn't ruined it. :(

I got my current one for $90 and I think it was originally about $150? Good winter coats aren't cheap, but they tend to last for years, so I look for sales and also think of them as an investment.
