comedy TV is definitely dead, or redefined into 'dark humor' and 'dramedy' that barely make people laugh out loud like they used to with 90s sitcoms etc

the last comedy i saw was 'good boys' i guess? i was definitely cracking up there

No, of course it's not. It's just growing and changing because time is in fact linear and humanity evolves.

I guess Give Me Liberty was sort of a comedy, but it honestly just stressed me the fuck out. And Ready Or Not was a horror-comedy, so I guess the last full comedy I saw was Good Boys.

I think comedians have to work a little harder to not be called an asshole these days and that hurts their fragile egos because they're so used to being lazy. Especially (tbh mostly) if they're male.

The last movie that really made me laugh out loud was The Disaster Artist. Franco is trash but the story of The Room is just so outrageous.

I don't think this is a ~PC issue so much, but there is a problem with people needing comedy spelled out for them sometimes. Like they don't understand what the actual target of the joke is and take it at face value when in reality they share the same opinion as the comic and just don't understand the tone/point.

Maybe it's because I'm older now but if I'm going to the movie theater, it's to see some epic movie...not so much a comedy where I already saw all the funny parts in the trailer.

Same. But then I've never been the biggest comedy fans. 1 1/2- 2 hours is just too long usually to sustain the funny.

yep. people act like drama films are dead because of superhero movies, but it's because nobody wants to pay $19 to see a drama film when they could pay $9 a month to see dozens of high quality drama films in a television format.
