Promo for episode 5X09, "Terraformance Anxiety"- 'The Lady's terraforming plans are becoming a reality, as the Killjoy trio scramble to find a way to defeat her.'
This is such a weird season, it doesn't feel at all like a final season, despite the stakes supposedly being high, it just feels completely low key.
Not sure what to make of the weird Stockholm/Lima syndrome going on with Khlyen and the Lady, but it's interesting. I really want Aneela-Khlyen before the end and for them to bring back Aneela's mom.
It was nice going into Zeph's backstory a bit, but so close to the end feels like more padding, like capture the flag game with bad doctor, or D'av wanting right now to find Johnny a girlfriend for later.
Johnny's opening was hilarious.
Fancy is the best and everyone is a bit in love with him, those are facts.
Ia that it doesn't feel like a final season. It's strangely disjointed rather than all the threats coming together. Maybe because up until the end of the last episode most of the characters were scattered. I mean, it's not bad, I am constantly entertained, but it doesn't feel like we are building up to a huge climax.
Yeah, I'm not bored, but it's disjointed and there's a lot of plot stalling, because they can't have the big showdown yet, so lots of side quests that feel filler.
I feel you. I think he's on team Aneela and Dutch, but thinking they're both dead makes him a bit lost right now, hence him not really caring about stopping the Lady or saving Westerly.
Me too. I for sure thought he was going along with the Lady's plan just to trick her in the end but now I'm not so sure. The back and forth is super annoying.
The clothing seemed a bit weird this episode. Johnny's novelty pajamas were cute, but doesn't seem very in-universe. And yet they were because they were Captain Apex pajamas, a comic book character unique to the Killjoys universe. That fabric had to be custom. Zeph and Dutch use the word "t-shirts" (we've seen t-shirts, but the word itself doesn't fit in) and end the episode in tank tops with iron-on words. They have iron ons? Someone even has an iron on the ship?
But that tapestry scene was super pretty. That's the type of fabric I expect in this show!
I didn't even think of Johnny's pjs but having by the end of the episode ironed on T's (have we seen any character ever wear clothes with words on them? and yeah using the word T-Shirt was very out of universe) was a bit much for me, just for a gag. Can Lucy just produce them? Do they have irons? Did they spend their time figuring it out while Fancy cooked dinner?
Idek what to make of this season tbh, it's like a final season of a show that doesn't know it's the final season, but they been knew a LONG while, so why all the character backstory padding and bits of idk plot filler? I feel like it should be building to a huge ultimate climax that brings the whole show to a satisfying neat finish. Not whatever this has been. Maybe the last two eps? But idk idk.
This is such a weird final season for a pre-planned one. Yes, the stakes are high, but it doesn't feel like it when they have time for padding and fillers and side quests and capture the flag games. I really hope the final two episodes deliver at least.
