in my experience college and graduate level stats classes use examples from whatever the professor's given field is in. like, I went to grad school for Sociology, but the Stats prof for the required stats class was a Geographer, so all of his problems and examples had this geography jargon we weren't super familiar with but could understand well enough to run the numbers
