Speaking to ET he commented on the importance of the character's introduction as well as the fact that the diversity on display in Chloé Zhao’s Eternals won’t just be limited to it featuring the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first openly gay major character. Eternals has a stacked cast that includes actors of all different races and backgrounds.
While the identity of the LGBT character set to be introduced hasn't been revealed yet, Kevin Feige has teased that "He’s married, he’s got a family. And that is just part of who he is."
The list of candidates for the character currently includes Ikaris (Richard Madden), Kingo (Kumail Nanjiani), Phastos (Brian Tyree Henry), Gilgamesh (Don Lee) and Druig (Barry Keoghan).
Fans speculate that Ikaris will be that character. Richard Madden "allegedly" dating Brandon Flynn has also fueled the speculation since Marvel was looking for LGBT actors to portray LGBT characters in the casting calls for the movie.
Richard also commented on how much he's looking forward to working with his GoT castmate Kit Harington again.
