Okay so. I thought the movie was not as good as the first. And I also thought it was kind of a mess. But I liked it a lot? It was fucking weird and it’s wild to me that WB let them. And it didn’t apologize for its weirdness? I’m really being more forgiving of it than I should be, because I like that it was ambitious enough to go for it. I’d rather have an ambitious attempt than something that tried to...sand down the cracked out nature of the book. Also I love that it had an ending.

Performance wise well...Bill Hader wins. He’s just so fucking good and I love him. Also special shout out to Finn, who yes was bogged down with wonky CGI and the voice pitching was really jarring (for all of the kids but after watching ST for three seasons like...you know what he looked and sounded like at 13), but made me cry [Spoiler (click to open)] during the arcade scene. showing Richie’s softness and openness and like...this yearning was so sweet and then heartbreaking bc of what happened with Bowers .

Controversial opinion but James Ransone’s Eddie > Jack Grazer’s Eddie. I feel like the kid Eddie performance lost a little magic this time around. Sophia Lillis was still incredible and Jaeden and James really made Bill so much more likable than in the book. Loved Jay Ryan, and Isaiah was wonderful.

I have a lot more thoughts jumping around but one more thing [Spoiler (click to open)] Richie loved Eddie for 27 years 😭

I enjoyed it as much as the first but in a different way. I think when I do rewatches when the blu ray comes out, I'll start the movie at the restaurant scene 'cause the realistic brutality took a lot of out of me which I know it was supposed to do. But I loved how fucking weird it was! [Link to spoiler] Once that baby head batbird thing came out of the fortune cookie I was like "Let's do it" lmao.

I'm in love with James' Eddie spiritually and romantically. HE TOOK THAT KNIFE OUT HIS FACE AND STABBED HENRY WITH IT *THEN* INSULTED HIS HAIR!!

James Ransone is insanely good in this movie and I love him and [Spoiler (click to open)] when he stabbed Henry and still insulted him? THE BEST SCENE IN THE MOVIE! Also his performance after Stanley’s head is attacking Richie and Bill yells at him is so heartbreaking. And then he’s so happy he thinks he killed It, and Richie is coming back around from the Deadlights and is just looking up at Eddie 🥺😢 i fucking cried dude. I don’t care what anyone says, Eddie loves him back, the way they said each other’s names at the end proves it. Maybe “I fucked your mom” will be our always?

I know a lot of Reddies were mad about his last line but it completely makes sense with their relationship as we have seen it. It looked to me like he realized he wasn't going to make it and he didn't want Richie to be even more hurt than he already was in the moment so he tried to be the Richie and make a joke so I found it very sweet.

[Spoiler (click to open)] I thought it was sweet too. Like the way he said it made me really like it, and I was crying and really sad about what happened to Eddie that it also made me smile. It’s their love language okay?! I’ve decided lol
