I love the entire Barry cast. I was thinking about Sarah Goldberg's big monologue from last season and still being blown away by how good it was.

And I'm glad Bill's getting attention for his work IT.

She was definitely my "most improved" actor for S2; that monologue was fantastic. She really turned that character around for me.

Her character development was so great

[Spoiler (click to open)] At first she seemed so unlikeable and selfish, but it all makes sense in hindsight and I have to say that they handled it so well. Her going off on him for the laptop thing wasn't that bad, she was right, but after the whole abuse backstory it just made so much sense that she'd be completely ticked off by possessive behavior. I see a lot of criticism about her being so egocentric and pushing him around, but that too makes complete sense. That is completely someone he would date. He's used to being pushed around and told what to do with his shit "mentor", and his girlfriend is the same way. It's familiar to him. This is what he does. Plus, she grounds him and ties him to reality, and she's not really observant because she's always so concerned with herself, so she's "safe" in that she wouldn't find out about how backstory. All in all it checks out, what seem to be flaws just end up connecting to the story again. I really love this show

i feel like so much criticism of sally is unfair. she's been a working actor for a decade and hasn't seen much traction in her chosen career path despite her obvious talent. she's had a lot of false starts, but she's hopeful and not giving up. i liken it to running a marathon where the closer you get to the finish line the more myopic your vision becomes. she's been running this race for a while and focuses all of her time and energy on auditioning and improving her craft--the next opportunity could be her big one--but that also means she misses a lot of what's happening around and right in front of her.

i don't believe she's inherently selfish she just has blinders on.

I mean some of the things she did were really selfish. There's a lot of scenes, but the hardest to watch was when Barry asks her to be there for him and she goes "Oh yeah except oh I have to go get drinks with my agent but tomorrow for sure" and he has to ask "but you'll be there for me, right?"
It's not that she blows him off for an appointment, but the way she blows him off, if that makes sense. She takes his support (driving her around, helping her with auditions and lines) for granted and always seems to flutter off as soon as he's done what she needed him to do.

That said, she's basically this show's Skyler of Breaking Bad in terms of how disproportionate the criticism is. "Boohoo she's annoying!" but.. the other dude kills people. All the popular characters are stone-cold killers. But she's sometimes a bit frustrating so she's the wOOoOOOrrst
