Celebrities react to Boris Johnson's plans to suspend Parliament
... Wait, what?
The long and short of it is that Boris Johnson, PM of Britain (because this is the darkest timeline and we don't deserve anything remotely decent) has announced the suspension of parliament in the final weeks before Britain's EU departure date.
Queen Elizabeth II approved the request to shut down parliament and reopen it on October 14th. The UK is set to leave the EU on October 31st.
Opponents have branded this move by Johnson a "coup" while Trump (who else?) waded into the debate by praising Johnson as "great".
Celebrities were quick to react on Twitter:
Weep for Britain. A sick, cynical brutal and horribly dangerous coup d’état. Children playing with matches, but spitefully not accidentally: gleefully torching an ancient democracy and any tattered shreds of reputation or standing our poor country had left.

The Right in the U.K. have always deluded themselves into thinking they’re pretty decent. They don’t openly factionalise or speak in isms like the Left. Truth is, no group is more prepared to put profit over country, dogma over debate, or power over democracy, than the Right.
