i can see people more readily streaming vs watching live

i wish they'd balance out these numbers a bit - more ppl than ever don't have traditional cable, ratings should reflect that

Forget cable, I don't even own a television. It's wild to me that digital views aren't taken more seriously these days.

Same here lol. I feel like that’s becoming more common though, I’ve brought up that I don’t have a TV and it’s usually older people that are like ‘what???’ but people around my age aren’t too phased by it

Right...I have one but God knows I don't turn it on half the time.

If they’d stream it for everyone then people would watch. Kids don’t sit in front of TV’s anymore why is this complicated?

mte, they should just get out of tv and move to yt completely and i feel like they could bring back some of their old shows like cribs or diary bc ppl are still obsessed with celebs

I recently read that almost none of the homes featured in the show belonged to the celebs.

Except Redman's, lol

I feel like most people illegally stream it or watch the performances online the next day. I don't have cable and no one I know does either. also, award shows in general are losing viewers, no one really cares who wins these awards

MTV streamed it live on their website for free. That's how I watched it. I don't have cable.

i feel like the last time this show was actually relevant was like 2010/11 and they kinda stayed afloat by giving all these big artists that vanguard award til kanye finally killed it by ranting for a whole 15 mins instead of performing lol

Hmm that's a good point. The video vanguard award is the only reason I tuned in this year and last year haha!

Yeah the last big hurrah the VMAs had was the Kanye moment. After that they've hoping for another scandal but alas none.

ya, i think they tried it w the nicki/miley feud or nicki/taylor but it just didn't have the same impact

LOL they missed out since it was mostly on twitter and Nicki/Taylor made up before the awards.

Miley even backed down when Nicki called her out on stage....didn't go far after that.
