In a new upcoming show called “Ghosted: Love Gone Missing,” MTV helps distraught individuals track down and confront former lovers, family members, and friends all in an effort to get to the bottom of why these people suddenly disappeared from their lives (aka “ghosted”). The docuseries is facing major backlash online for its premise, which some say could overstep boundaries and encourage stalking.

It will be hosted by The Bachelorette veteran Rachel Lindsay and artist Travis Mills.

Never understood why folks get so worked up over being #ghosted. Regardless of the reason - and I understand sometimes it’s deeply personal - this person has let you know there is no space in their life for you, at this time. Sometimes you have to be okay with no closure. https://t.co/l6s2aWnyNz

If you're the kind of person who tracks down someone that ghosted you, you're the reason people feel the need to ghost to protect themselves in the first place. pic.twitter.com/XDedEThIbC

Yeah see both parties would 1,000% have to agree and sign shit ahead of time, ala Catfish, so the show’s entire conceit is basically bullshit. Just like Catfish, lolol

And I know because I reported on it in 2013: https://t.co/3U2k4vaBDr

Have I been ghosted? Yes
Have I ghosted someone? Yes

Would I want to have cameras pointed in my face about why I or someone I know ghosted me? Absolutely not. #Ghosted
