I think a lot of it is that she doesn't have to. A lot of it for me is how much she pushes the "I'm a real artist, respect my art" narrative, then is licensing her songs and her image out to credit card commercials. She has more than she will ever need, yet is desperately pushing to top herself revenue/chart wise and not growing as a musician.
You touched on a point here I think is very relevant. Not only is she constantly pushing to top her own self, but reinventing herself every era does come off as a little tryhard and immature and it lessens the impact of her own artistry. It's like she put her own damn self in between the rock and the hard place and goes "This is fine".
The chorus of the song is so basic.
