it goes without saying that the music industry is horrifically shit towards women and their /shelf lives/, but i don't think we can compare bebe to rihanna.

rihanna was 17 when she released pon de replay, and had time on her side to become the g.o.a.t. that she is now. also, the inherent sexuality that comes with black womanhood early on, as terrible as it is (i.e. aaliyah and monica being teens during the 90s singing about sex), makes it more viable for bwoc entertainers over 30 to stay afloat versus their white counterparts.
