Scary Stories was one of the worst movie choices I've made in my life. It has more teens talking, than it has jumps or scares and a wasted ending. So disappointing as a fan of the books, when I was a kid.

Isn't it supposed to basically be a kids' movie? Just with traumatic nightmare imagery that will hook them on horror for life?

Saw it in a huge theater and everyone was an adult. I don't know any kid that could sit through it though, boring as it was.

Hmm, a lot of the reactions I've read have been wildly different.

I saw The Art of Racing in the Rain, and like things happened but it felt so oddly plotless. Plus it’s the upteenth movie a year to include a bit where a dog can sniff out cancer. Yawn.

I don’t know why there’s a billion movies coming out this week. I have no idea how I’m going to plan out my A-List showings.

And Angry Birds 2/Blinded By the Light are getting released mid-week this week too! Ridiculous. Why couldn’t some of these been dumped in July???

The nostalgia is strong, I kinda want to see this shit!

btw the scariest story was The Bride. I'll brook no argument.

I honestly don't know what to go see this week. I (obviously) love going to the movies, and there are a ton of things I'd see at Landmark/Arclight/Laemmle, but AMC's offerings in LA are so weak right now. I was going to see The Kitchen, but the reviews are terrible (21% on Rotten Tomatoes?!), and I am not the kind of person who needs to sit through a movie with that kind of unanimous critical rejection just to say I saw it. The reviews for Scary Stories are mixed to bad, and I have no interest in seeing cancer dog movie or falsely accused football player movie.

What's good is that I have a couple of free Arclight tickets & some Fandango gift cards, so I'll probably use those to go see The Nightingale or Luce or Them That Follow.

I'm very excited for Blinded by the Light next week!

21% Damn. I wanted to see it. Hopefully the audience score is higher. I haven't checked.
