i have one classmate who prides herself on how much true crime she watches, and she's convinced that mj is innocent. her (almost) exact words on why she doesn't believe the documentary's allegations: "i've watched enough true crime shows to know that child molesters don't just have two victims!" i pointed out to her that there have been many allegations re mj (much more than two), but that these were just the two who agreed to appear in the documentary. then she veered to saying how corey feldman thinks mj is innocent and that's when i knocked myself unconscious bc it was better than listening to her.

true crime docs have every dumbass believing that they're an expert in criminology, istg...

Damn, someone tell her that Corey retracted his hardened defence and said that although he wasn't abused by MJ that it doesn't mean others weren't; he came out and said he can no longer defend him after watching LN.

oh i didn't know that! good for corey though. i did tell my classmate that just bc corey wasn't abused doesn't mean others weren't bc child molesters don't abuse literally every kid around them.

tbh i prob shouldn't have bothered. at this point if you're defending mj then i can't believe you're arguing in good faith.

Yeah, tbh it does sound like no matter what you or anyone else said/says, she's not gonna change her mind. It's just so frustrating to have to hear these people though, because the subject is so serious and horrifying.

it was honestly THE dumbest take/logic i'd heard by the mj defense squad, which is saying something lol.

i just loved how she was trying to position herself as an expert on the psychology of child molesters (bc she watches true crime!!) and it was so clear she was ignorant of even the most basic facts in the mj case.

This is why I don't listen to true crime podcasts, honestly. So many hosts don't understand interest doesn't mean knowledge. There's a lot of psych stuff that most people aren't trained to understand. So you can't say definitively if it's right or wrong.

You should ask her why do experts (cops, psychiatrists, social workers, prosecutors) who have decades of experience in CSA believe MJ’s victims. MJ’s first victim to speak out (Jordan Chandler) met with a psychiatrist that specializes in determining the legitimacy of CSA accusations. The man said that Jordan without question was abused. So how does she know better than a doctor who specializes in this?
