- The Sara Bareilles-penned musical Waitress, which has been running at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre for three years, has set a closing date of January 5th, 2020.
- The musical, created by an all-female team and based on the 2007 film, has remained a steady draw since making its Broadway debut the same season as Hamilton.
- They've been stunt-casting for a while, so keep your eyes peeled for who might pop up before closing.

July 8, 2019- The Broadway revival of Terrence McNally's Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune is closing a month earlier than planned.
- Despite having two name actors in Audra McDonald and Michael Shannon, and overall positive reviews, the production has been playing to half-empty houses since its debut several months ago.
- The play will have its last performance on July 28th in the Broadhurst Theater.

July 11, 2019- Slave Play, the critically-acclaimed drama from playwright Jeremy O. Harris (Daddy) that sold out its Off-Broadway run last winter at the New York Theater Workshop, will transfer to Broadway for a limited run this fall.
- Robert O'Hara returns to direct the Broadway run at the Golden Theatre.
- Plot summary: The old South lives on at the MacGregor Plantation-in the breeze, in the cotton fields...and in the crack of the whip. Fear and desire entwine as three couples navigate the complicated meaning of race, history, gender, and sexuality in 21st-century America.
- Previews begin September 10th with an opening date of October 6th. The play is set to run for 17 weeks, produced by several companies, including Jake Gyllenhaal and Riva Marker's Nine Stories.

July 16, 2019- Greta Gerwig and Oscar Isaac are set to star in a Sam Gold-directed production of Anton Chekhov's Three Sisters, Off-Broadway at the New York Theatre Workshop.
- Sam Gold has directed both actors before - Gerwig in 2014's The Village Bike, and Isaac in 2017's Hamlet at The Public Theater. Gold won the Tony for directing Broadway's Fun Home, and recently directed a critically lauded production of Othello at NYTW.
- Additional cast and creative team will be announced closer to the spring run of the show.

July 10, 2019- The cast for Ivo van Hove's West Side Story has been announced, with 23 actors and choreographer Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker making their Broadway debuts.
- Broadway vets Shereen Pimentel (The Lion King) and Isaac Powell (Once On This Island) will lead as Maria and Tony.
- Van Hove's production will be the first major staging of the musical in the United States to not use the classic Jerome Robbins choreography, as depicted in the Oscar-winning film. Choreographer De Keersmaeker is known for modern dance, and producer Scott Rudin says this production will be unlike any other version we've seen.

July 14, 2019- The Hell's Kitchen blackout on Saturday night prompted almost every show to cancel their performances. Because the blackout happened so close to curtain, audiences and cast members were already there and ready to go.
