To be fair, Renee Montoya is a lesbian and in the movie, but who knows if they give her a girlfriend or love interest and she’s being played by a straight actress

Oh. A gay villain. How novel.

But really the issue isn’t that he’s gay and a bad guy, as general evil and mayhem knows no sexual preference, as that there are no (overtly) gay heroes. When representation is limited it stings to have it be the bad guy who will probably be dead or in jail by the end of the movie, instead of the dashing hero who saves the day.
