"Carey's thoughts on: Writing. Carey" A lot of artists say they write but they don't really write. No offense to anybody. That's just what I've seen"."

I do believe this. Especially when it comes to big global artists. Their record labels expect gold and platinum records/hits which even for the talented singer-songwriter type must be hard to deliver every.single.time. After a while I think they all get a group of writers to help them out. Other artists are probably stealing credits or nudging their way into songwriting credits.

Which for as much as she got shitted on, I always liked that Britney was honest about not writing songs. I think other than "hot as ice" no one ever come for her stealing songs (granted idk if she's the one at fault for that?). Some songwriters years ago mentioned that Britney gets respected because she doesn't try to take credit for it.

"On style: A lot of the girls are just nude in front of everbody. No offense to them".Mariah darling you've been showing cleavage/skin for the looooooooooooongest time now. ( ... )

I mean if you check majority of the songwriting credits for her albums, it's other people. I think only 3 or 4 of her albums is where she featured more in the songwriting (and majority are non-album singles). She's mentioned writing songs before but never presented herself as strong or sole songwriter is what I mean. Like Christina to me was a stronger writer and move involved in her albums compared to Britney.

If you look at her singles: me against the music, every time, s&m remix, work bitch, perfume, make me are the only singles where she has songwriting credit. Every other single released she's not credited- it was done by other people.

first, that's fine if that's how it appeared to you, but that's 100% not how the pop game was played. all the pop girls talked about how they felt when they "wrote" their singles. that's was just the tone, regardless of whether they had writing credit or no. also don't forget the masterpiece that is lonely.

and she's still buying credits or do you think she really did write the majority of britney jean?

"and she's still buying credits or do you think she really did write the majority of britney jean?"

No she does it with a group of songwriters. From what I heard them say, it goes like Britney will present them an idea, thoughts or feelings and they translate that into songs. I think T-Pain and will.i.am have both mentioned that she doesn't spend all day cooped up in the recording studio, she apparently is very in-n-out, so she's not heavily involved in the songwriting process.

Like I mentioned before she's never come off like a strong writer by herself. The songs she's written herself are not #1 hits-which is why they're not out there. Everytime is the only one that actually did well and she did have one co-writer with that one.

I mean yeah in general the pop girls were made to say that they had a hand in writing their songs as a counter to all the "manufactured" backlash they got from critics. But I mean after a while you could tell who had a direct hand in songwriting.

that in and out songwriting stuff is typical of buying credits. by buying credits i mean, that singers get the first credit. she's never written anything herself, lmao. and you're still forgetting about lonely.

I feel this always happens when an artist has kids. They are never as bad as the new class.
Her"shorts " don't even cover her behind in this video.

But den babies are getting older in a world with social media so I get it I guess.

Yeah that's true. I remember when Mel C criticized today's popstars a few years ago about showing skin and I was like "...hey for their time the spice girls showed skin too".

Today's popstars made her feel tame, even though at the end of the day it's the same game.

IA but I get where she's coming from. Yes, some of Mel B's and Vic's outfits were just a blazer with a bra underneath lol and in WDYTYA video, Vic is only wearing a bikini with some chainmail type of thing in the front. But when I compare their whole look/music/vibe to Pussycat Dolls or Fifth Harmony, they were def way less sexualised.

Yeah. It seemed more fun. The spice girls unlike the pussycats dolls were not glamorizing the pole to 6 year olds. The 80s still win though
