i'm sorry but taylor is too old to be making pop music. this is the age when the industry kicks you out. i don't know why she has 'transitioned to pop' when she has sat on the fence her whole career. i don't see her future albums making as much money as her past albums did. perhaps that's why she's upset.

the masters thing is a thing literally...every artist goes through. wish her luck.

yes. you do realize most pop music is sung by teens/20 yr olds right? sung for and by.

I don't think it was phrased as an opinion. It's a fact (like the og poster stated) that pop music essentially kicks you out at her age. Is that right? I don't know. But let's not act like ONTD hasn't rolled their eyes and been critical of older people acting like their teen/20-something selves. Once again, is that right? I don't know. I do believe most people in this world look for some life-experience and maturity once you hit 30, though. Maybe this accounts for why it's annoying to see Taylor Swift writing progressively immature lyrics while twirling around on stage in sparkly unitards. That shtick IS going to expire.

Pop music doesn’t ultimately mean immaturity. Taylor’s awful music and immature lyrics are her own doing. Nothing to do with pop music.

I don't see a lot of examples of popular pop music being released by 30/40 year olds. While it does exist and I'm sure a list can be made, it's more commonly made by people in their teens and 20's.

This.

Taylor’s declining career has everything to do with her own declining skills, or what I think it really is, her choice to sacrifice good song quality and content for more money and awards and streams from her stans. It’s not pop music’s fault.

Yeah, Madonna really hit her stride in her late 20's-40's was a great time for her. But she reinvented herself as she got older. Like a Prayer is a great pop song, but it's a bit more mature than lucky star or like a virgin. Still great pop music, but it also fit her growth (and age). Express Yourself is an amazing pop song that would have sounded dumb for a late tween/early 20's pop singer, and Madonna was just over 30 then.

But Taylor Swift is aging herself by making increasingly immature music (and aesthetics) as she gets older. She could be doing great, evolved pop. Instead, she's become an overgrown jojo siwa.

The jojo thing is so real, a friend of mine shared a clip from Jojo’s new video and it literally looks like an outtake from Me. Only Jojo is like 15, and her fan base is 10 year olds, so it just fits better
