Truly didn't think I'd be back so soon with another theater post, but it's been a big news week on Broadway. Yesterday, we learned that the recent West End revival of Harold Pinter's Betrayal, starring Zawe Ashton, Charlie Cox, and Tom Hiddleston, is transferring to Broadway in August. The play, which is about an affair and set in reverse chronological order, will mark the Broadway debuts of all three actors. Betrayal will be moving into the Bernard B. Jacobs Theater, which currently houses The Ferryman, winner of this year's Best Play Tony. Tickets for the 17 week engagment (August - early December) are already on sale if you have an Amex, but otherwise go on sale mid-July.

New musicals King Kong and The Cher Show will close on August 18th. This doesn't come as a huge shock to anyone who has been checking the weekly Broadway grosses, as both shows have been underperforming for quite some time. They join Be More Chill and The Prom in shows meeting an August demise.

The recent gender-flipped production of Stephen Sondheim's Company may be moving to Broadway in Spring 2020. The West End edition starred Rosalie Craig as Bobbie and Olivier Award-winning Pattie LuPone as Joanne, but the cast for the Broadway version remains TBD.
