  • The Tony Awards are behind us, and underperforming shows are closing up shop.
  • Hillary and Clinton, a new play starring Laurie Metcalf and John Lithgow, closed this week. Despite critical acclaim, the play couldn't find an audience and closed before the end of its previously scheduled limited run.
  • Be More Chill and The Prom, two new musicals that opened last season, have both announced closings on August 11th. But The Prom already has a future in a Netflix feature adaptation from Ryan Murphy.
  • Aaron Sorkin's adaptation of To Kill a Mockingbird made over $2 million dollars last week, a first for an American play on Broadway.
  • The musical adaptation of Beetlejuice had the strongest week of its run.
