This was a really powerful speech. You have to admire everything that he does bts for black Hollywood and how much he has done on his own. On the other hand, he does make awful movies with sometimes harmful messages.

One of them was on yesterday (whichever one with Angela Bassett and going home to her father's other family) and the amount of 'dark skinned people are loud, ghetto (and it's clearly seen as a negative) or evil or criminals' was astonishing 🙄.

I'm glad we have things like Black Panther and Us and Get Out where dark skinned black people are heroes [Spoiler (click to open)]for the most part and we don't have to shuck and jive all the time to get a large audience in movies.

This is why I don't like his movies.

Ultimate icon, really? When most of his movies still seem to treat women like shit? Okay then.

Which are y'alls favorite Tyler Perry films? For me, it's a toss up between two:

-The one where a black woman contracts HIV as a punishment for not leaving her husband, who she knows is gay and sleeping with another man.

-The one where a black woman is sexually assaulted, but it's ok because it turns out she really did want it, and then contracts HIV as punishment for her infidelity.

Holy shit. I've only seen a few of his movies but the "I have an issue with black women" vibe was pretty strong in all of them.

Temptation was so blatant in it's hatred of women.

its not that hard to give a powerful speech, politicians, morally corrupt CEOs, and hucksters do it every day.

But I still think this dude legit HATES black women.
