My uncle and sister are both 9/11 survivors. My uncle is in remission from a 9/11 related cancer and my sister has developed respiratory problems I’m positive are a direct result from all the toxic air she breathed during her escape and in the following weeks/months. I wrote letters to our state and local representatives on my uncle’s behalf asking that this be extended. So many people are just now developing health issues as a result and many more will continue to cause point blank the air was toxic. First responders did their jobs not just on that day, but in the weeks after as it continued to burn. People who worked downtown were still expected to show up. What do you think has happened to them as a result? That the government basically dgaf about these people is shameful. To not even show up for the hearing is beyond disrespectful. These hypocrites are the worst. So quick to praise first responders for a photo op or in the aftermath of an emergency but when it comes time to take care of them, they don’t do shit. I’m glad Jon has continued to go to bat for this.
