The 73rd Tony Awards may not have been a ratings juggarnaut, dropping from 6.3 million viewers last year to 5.5 million viewers this year and hitting a five year low. But they still gave out the awards and showcased some of Broadway's current offerings. ( Read more... )

Ouch, that is a shame. You would have Hought last year would have lower ratings considering there were no really great musicals nominated! (But I guess people tuned in for the commercial stuff?). I hope this doesn't make them avoid nominating and awarding genuinely good work like Hadestown in the future. :(

Still happy for Hadestown and Rachel Chavkin, though disappointed for Amber Gray. :( Can't wait to see it!

I like Carpool Karaoke but I loathe late night shows where the format isn't 1 on 1. Talk shows are already kind of awkward and time limited. Graham Norton is the only one who can do it well because he's not confined to a certain time. Conan is the worst because Andy Richter's PRESENCE is just hovering at all times. Anyway that's why I didn't realize for a very long time that he's a POS. There's also that airplane BI but that's really just hearsay...that I choose to believe
