Secret Life of Pets 2 was basically three episodes of a TV show entertwined together. It made me wonder whether Illumination is going to get a TV department like Dreamworks does at some point, because I feel like this is a universe that doesn’t really justify being cinematic in any way but fits as a TV show. The kids in my theater LOVED it though. And Kevin Hart is sooo annoying in this.
Dark Phoenix wasn’t as bad as I was expecting it to be? It wasn’t GOOD, but I was expecting it to be excruciating to sit through and it was mostly just boring. I’m glad they didn’t try to extend it over 2 hours. I did tear up a bit at the very last scene though (which I assume had to be a last minute add-on when they realized this would be the final X-Men film). There was a point when I loved this franchise and the last scene was a nice reminder of that to me.
Also Nic Hoult looked great when he was non-blue Hank. The glasses and sweaters look works for him.

I’ll forever be bummed that none of the new cast films were able to run with what First Class set up. Oh well. I feel like the last minute or so was a decent amount of emotional closure for me. Im ready to move on.
(I don’t think the MCU is gonna be great for the X-Men though, but I have MCU fatigue.)
