  • Oscar-winning director Barry Jenkins (Moonlight, If Beale Street Could Talk) is set to direct a film about the life of choreographer Alvin Ailey for Fox Searchlight.
  • Julian Breece (When They See Us) is writing the script for the film, with Judy Kinberg, Adele Romanski, Rachel Cohen and Alicia Keys producing.
  • Fox Searchlight made a deal with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, granting full cooperation from the organization that has all of Ailey's choreography, and the rights to Jennifer Dunning's biography about the choreographer.
  • Jenkins says he is "beyond proud and humbled" to bring this story to the screen.
