That post was a trip. It was beyond obvious he had a problem. You could see the alcohol bloat in his face.

the glorification of drinking in a lot of cultures/groups is really sad tbh

yep, plus it's such a vicious cycle. you can develop a dependency on it and not even realize it for some time.

Yea I see a lot of people with issues with alcohol/who are functioning alcoholics and they see nothing wrong with their behavior.

yep, especially in the UK. my friend's all drink so much and I try to keep up but just end up violently puking after 3 drinks now. idk how they do it and I wish they didn't feel like they have to drink so much to have fun

oh god, that sounds about right. the drinking culture is wild here I really do hate it's 18 and not 21. When we had a school trip to NYC so many wanted to go out and drink but obviously it's not legal and it was just dumb af to witness. I knew a girl who was so drunk she pissed all over someone's kitchen floor and still thinks it's absolutely hilarious she couldn't hold it in. I was lit the only one there disgusted and wanting to her help, but bc it was her birthday everyone let it slide. uhhh wtf?

I'm pretty sure my last relationship ended bc I didn't like going out drinking too. The only time he ever socialised with anyone. It's just... horrible. I need new friends around here that don't rely on it tbh

its weird because i feel like drugs are so frowned upon here. like whilst jeremy kyle was on, i knew so many people who would be like 'ew state of those druggies', yet those same people would go out binge drinking every weekend and think nothing of it. i kind of hate how because its legal, its so normalised here.

I could never hang. I have such a violent ill reaction to alcohol

but I could vape some weed hard, lol. definitely a pothead, but I can't even have like, one glass of wine

late to this post but I had to give up drinking 4 years ago due to medication-induced liver damage and pretty much all of my friends (some of whom I'd known for more than a decade) basically stopped talking to me overnight because they couldn't handle being around someone who doesn't drink. the ones I do still occasionally bump into get really uncomfortable by my not drinking, make "banter-y" jokes about how boring I am and try to buy me drinks even though they know it could literally kill me. it's wild. I hadn't realised how much of a problem binge-drinking culture was in the UK until I was totally removed from it; now it just looks alarming to me.

MTE. People love to downplay the issue and act like it’s nbd.

correction, it's only glorified when men do it.

can't agree with you there. it's everyone where I live, plus the whole "wine mom" thing is pretty pervasive.
