ONTD, have you ever been to a gender reveal party?

Yes, it was for my cousin's first baby - a son - roughly 5 years ago. She combined it with her planned baby shower which was quite alright with everyone. She planned to just do a regular baby shower for her new baby and simply reveal the birth gender there but her daughter came 3 weeks early LOL

i think combining it with the shower is the only way that it's acceptable

2 separate parties should be illegal

Eh to each their own. I’m going to do a reveal for close friends and family but throw it myself and make it explicit that people don’t bring gifts. In fact I’m going to say I’ll be upset if people bring gifts. I like it as an excuse to get people together and give them food lol.

that's nice- i've seen it done so many times where it was just another way to grab an extra round of gifts

Yeah IA that’s tacky af, that’s what a shower is for. I had an engagement party too but again, said no gifts.

Really depends on how your family/friends are -in my family, it's basically an excuse to throw a bbw/potluck and eat cake. No presents, no super fuss.

i didnt do a GR (we didn't find out the sex of the baby at all before he was born), but this would have been my only reason for it lol. i love a party.

Yeah the one I went to was just a part of the regular baby shower.

yep, so far i been to only one and it was ok, they did it with a balloon.
I said that day in my place I would do only one party and not 2 just to save money. But not having kids anytime soon so just my opinion.

No but seeing as how my cousin's gf was going on and on about them at Christmas.... there will be at least one in my future by 2025.
