In his new memoir "Then It Fell Apart," Moby described the relationship between him and Natalie Portman, with the latter calling it out as "very disturbing".

Moby claimed that he and Portman dated when he was 30 and the actress was 20, recounting how he attended parties in New York with her and going to visit her at Harvard University:

“kissing under the centuries-old oak trees. At midnight she brought me to her dorm room and we lay down next to each other on her small bed. After she fell asleep I carefully extracted myself from her arms and took a taxi back to my hotel.” [...] “It wanted one thing: for me to be alone … nothing triggered my panic attacks more than getting close to a woman I cared about.”

He then described how Natalie called him up to tell him that she had met someone else: “For a few weeks I had tried to be Natalie’s boyfriend, but it hadn’t worked out.”

Portman, however, remembers things very differently:

“I was surprised to hear that he characterised the very short time that I knew him as dating because my recollection is a much older man being creepy with me when I just had graduated high school,” [..] “He said I was 20; I definitely wasn’t. I was a teenager. I had just turned 18. There was no fact-checking from him or his publisher - it almost feels deliberate.”

She said that she and Moby had only hung out just "a handful of times" and that he had originally suggested "let's be friends".
