It's a lot of money to do it and im sure the few that do pay out of pocket. Fergie did one and mentioned she financed it herself, Anitta just released one too and also financed it herself. Wouldnt be surprised it was the same case for Maluma and Pabllo Vittar who is also releasing an english/portuguese/spanish visual album.
Yeah, it definitely is a lot of money to do. That's the nature of the business that stans don't understand. When their fave doesn't do x, y, and Z..I'm just like lol people have budgets and that depends on what they get in return.
Albums dont sell and the labels aint going to fund jack shit when theyre not geting anything for it. The ones that end up funding themselves are taking a huge gamble in hoping it makes a profit. I felt bad for Fergie, she def lost a lot of money with her last effort.
Fergie was not strategic about her sophomore album. She waited way too long and by the time she was ready to go solo again, a million new and more successful pop girls showed up and there was no room for her or Gwen Stefani (the mid-late 2000s Queens). It all boils down to having a good team.
BDay was pretty much a low budget visual album and where she started that, and i think it flopped by her standards? Im glad she stuck to her guns and vision and kept pushing that concept.
Also, I wish more pop stars did visual albums. I think it's been a long enough time where people won't keep comparing it to Bey?
