Celebs react to Alabama banning abortion

This is absolutely unbelievable. If you’re not worried about roe v wade, you’re not paying attention. This is why voting matters!! https://t.co/gZ5lrj7tQ1

Today Alabama banned almost all abortions, except for cases when the mother’s life is at serious risk, but not for cases of rape or incest.

I live in Bama, and i realize this place is overwhelmingly pro life, but it really sucks for the people who want that choice here.

Assuming time and money isn't an issue, people can still go out of state to get one, right?

Of course! And even if/when Ivey signs it, it won't go into effect for 6 months (and I'm betting a court will issue a preliminary injunction stopping enforcement of the law before then).

i think i says if they find out you went out of state for an abortion they will go after you still and the dr you went to.

so long as youre a resident of alabama?
Like, what if u lived in _____, and then moved to alabama afterwards?

i think it applies just for residents.

How the hell would they find out? Nosy neighbors, etc? Are they going to stop every woman coming into AL from out of state and force her to have a pelvic exam?

I know, shut up, don't give them ideas...

Why would you assume time and money isn't an issue? The population most in need of abortion services is overwhelmingly low-income and they're also least likely to have jobs with flexible schedules.

um, ok?
I presented a scenario in which someone doesn't have that obstacle to worry about, should they want to venture out of bama.

Your comment doesn't apply to what i said. Sorry you misinterpreted it.

I asked if someone has the means under this new law, can they still go elsewhere (as not everyone has the luxury to do so), even though that's a sucky alternative to do so.

What a narrow privileged male centric viewpoint on this issue. Just please do more research.

"ONTD doesn't read" rings true yet again.

I asked if a person has the means to get one out of state, can they? It sucks that they would even have to, but if this new law is to in fact go into effect, that may be someones only option, right.

I read. You didn't. Do the research yourself. Don't come at women here who are in pain tonight. It's a life or death medical procedure. Treating it as "well they can just drive out of town" is so fucking ignorant.

No, you misinterpreted what i wrote, and are coming for me like I'm some unsympathetic pro-lifer.

No-where did I say it's just some easy road trip to get something that every state should offer without a hassle.
I asked a question, got an answer. That's a thing that goes on in ONTD comments generally.

You know how dismissive people here in AL are? They just call you "baby killers" if you're pro-choice (or a democrat, for that matter). That's it. No wiggle room for exceptions in the conversation. Usually the bible is thrown in for good measure.

What the fuck people sound unhinged in your replies. I got what you meant, talking about a specific case of people leaving the state to do so. As someone who lived near the Florida-Alabama border my whole life, that's definitely something I'm interested in learning about this bill. I got my abortion in Florida instead of Alabama because I legitimately could not find a clinic and the Planned Parenthood in Birmingham has been sans a doctor for a couple years.

Lol I don't understand why people are misunderstanding you so badly. You were just basically just asking if it's possible to get an abortion out of state, or if it's banned for Alabama residents period.
