The panel on The Real discuss: Who is the male Beyoncé? Fellow SuperBowl performer Bruno Mars is mentioned as a possibility and when Adrienne asks, “Is Jay-Z the male Beyoncé?” the women quickly say “No! No! No girl.”
mte sorry to rehash the ed sheeran thing but it’s true that most men who sell at her level don’t put in half the effort. unless it’s like a band or something like coldplay.
no one said he didn't but there's a fundamental difference in the expectations of men vs. women. It's his prerogative to dress how he wants and just perform but a woman could never simply throw on any outfit and just sing - even Adele, who isn't a dancer, dresses at least semi formally for engagements - like male counterparts and that's a fact. Normani could never get away with Post Malone's effort and there's no denying that.
Honestly just IMAGINE the dragging 5th Harmony would receive if they'd put forward One Direction's effort. This convo always comes back to 'Well, they don't have to do that' for women when the truth is that in order to approach their male counterparts there's the expectation that they do.
The idea that there ever could be a male Bey is preposterous in and of itself TBQH. People might compare Micheal or Prince but they weren't her generation. The men her age have fallen off HARD either in the effort or fame categories and just don't work at her level in order to keep up.
and I hate the 'oh that's just her style' talk because this was a TRIBUTE performance. He couldn't get a suit on or even just brush his hair & add a blazer? COME ON
