i wonder how this will work. will the pornhub tumblr be filled with porn ads all over the place or will they keep the same thing but reinstate the NSFW. I honestly still dont understand why tumblr got rid of porn, they lost 1/3 of their traffic

I imagine they'll keep it the same but let NSFW stuff stay and if they're smart have actors/actresses start/keep their Tumblr blogs and integrate those blogs into their pages on pornhub.

iirc a big part of it was to keep sex workers from promoting/profiting off of their work through tumblr.

Honestly, I don't enjoy porn (although I do have my favorite porn actors), but I'm not going to grasp my pearls every time I see titty gifs or dick sucking gifs... But I never really saw that stuff on Tumblr, but I am understanding a lot of people have been bombarded with porn for a long time. So I think Pornhub can easily create their own version of Tumblr, or even joining forces with Tumblr to create a adult friendly version of Tumblr.

Haha I couldn't search for Red Dead Redemption stuff without seeing a ton of porn. It's fine, whatever, but I was looking for hunting tips and instead saw a million images of Arthur riding John into the sunset.

It all depends on who you follow.

Tumblr was terrible with moderation, though. My friend was clicking through tags and very easily stumbled upon obvious child porn. She contacted the authorities but was pretty shaken by what she saw.

Tumblr needed better moderators and filters.

Oh. My. God.
Fuck, I didn't even think anyone would be putting child pornography on Tumblr. Did anything happen after that? Like did those tumblogs get taken down and people arrested?

I'm not sure. She said the police said they would look into it, and she wouldn't get in trouble for stumbling upon it. But she didn't save the link and has no idea what happened after she reported them.

If people were so brazen, I'm sure it was just one of many complaints against Tumblr. I can almost see why they went with the nuclear option, though they should've had better moderation in place years ago.

iirc the nsfw ban was because of child porn. apple store took out the tumblr app because of the massive amount of cp and tumblr only then! decided to do something about it.

so they created this shitty algorithm against nsfw content but it worked terribly

(tbh i prefer a nsfw-free tumblr but oh well)

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought Tumblr was trying to (finally) crack down on the CP but they suck so they ended up snapping porn in general and their user base. Tumblr's policies/actions for CP are weak.

They'll probably just use it as an extended platform to advertise pornhub, lbr.

Porn is allowed but only from their corporate own websites. No way will they allow posts showcasing vids from their direct competitors.

I guess it was also a form of advertising for them. Porn blogs probably link to their site. It won't be exactly the same but I can see why they'd be interested
