Pet Sematary (2019)



* Five cats play Church in the Stephen King update with all five having their own trailer. The crew built a "catio" for the cats to relax and play on during scenes. They reportedly got along well with the cast.

* Training included getting the cats comfortable with the makeup application process. Catnip parties, pâté, and other kitty treats were involved.

* While 5 cats play Church, Tonic and Leo were the primary actors. Tonic was the "action cat" and used for living Church while Leo excelled at "quiet staring" and was a "confident sit-stay cat" and therefore used for undead Church. Tonic and Leo are both on Instagram!




Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994)



* Jim Carrey's personal chef was on set and also made meals for Carrey's pet iguana.

* The character of Ace Ventura was heavily inspired by tropical birds. According to Carrey: "A cockatiel or a parakeet of some kind. The clothing I picked was all ... like a colourful bird, a tropical bird. The walk was bird-like. Everything was based on a bird, even the hairstyle."

Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey (1993)



* The scene were Sassy is catapulted into the air by a seesaw was a composite shot of several different shots. "The cat was[...]filmed as she was tossed from one trainer to a blanket being held by several people. The cat seemed to love it and purred throughout. "

* The dog playing Chance loved whipped cream. The crew had to make sure he didn't eat too much of it during the scene were Chance destroys a wedding cake.

War Horse (2011)



* Steven Spielberg's daughter Destry was a real Horse Girl, and he promised her he'd make a horse movie some day.

* The main acting horse in this film also played Seabiscuit.

I Am Legend (2007)



* Will Smith went on dog dates with his canine co-star Abbey so they could get to know each other better before filming.

* He liked Abbey so much that he tried to adopt her after filming was done but her trainer couldn't be persuaded to give her up.

Night of the Lepus (1972)



* The killer giant rabbits were mostly just regular sized rabbits running around on adorable miniature sets. (Film makers probably weren't going for "adorable" but the rabbits had tiny cabbages!)

* In other scenes, a man in a rabbit suit was used.

Pet Sematary (1989)



* Stephen King's novel was partially inspired by the death of his daughter's cat Smuckey. Smuckey's name appears on a gravestone in the cemetery both in the novel and movie.

* Jud (Fred Gwynne) mentions he had a dog named Spot. Spot was also the name of the Munsters' family pet.
