- FilmNation and Freckle Films debuted the all-star cast of the upcoming spy thriller 355 at Cannes last May, including Chastain, Lupita Nyong'o, Marion Cotillard, Penelope Cruz and Fan Bingbing.
- Shortly afterward, Fan Bingbing dropped out of public view for months after being accused of tax evasion in China, which cast doubts on her role in the film.
- In October, she reappeared and publicly apologized for her misdeeds. She and her companies were ordered to repay 129 million dollars in fines, back taxes, late payment penalties and interest.
- Sources have confirmed the film will start shooting soon with its original cast, although Huayi Brothers Media, a Chinese company originally set to back the film financially, has dropped out of the project.
- This will be Fan's first project since the scandal.
