Congressman Tim Ryan, former challenger to Nancy Pelosi for House Democratic leader, has announced that he is running for president. His daughter told him to "do something" after she called him crying from school because her friend's dad got transferred at the local General Motors plant and they had to move.

He thinks the best way to beat Trump is for the Democratic party to go back to its working class roots. Despite his reputation as a moderate Democrat (he used to support the NRA and flip flopped on abortion) he says that he can appeal to progressives within the party because he is in favor of policies like raising the minimum wage. He says he will win and send Trump back to Mar-a-Lago full time.
