Tom Hanks is currently negotiating to play Elvis Presley’s infamous manager "Colonel" Tom Parker in Baz Luhrmann’s untitled Warner Bros. film about the musician. Parker was responsible for Presley's record deal with RCA & his movie career.
Luhrmann will be directing the movie. He also wrote the script with Craig Pearce.
The director always wanted a star for Parker’s part, but he wants a newcomer for the role of Presley. He has begun meeting with actors for the role.
