• Washington is presumably in talks to play the titular character with McDormand presumably playing Lady Macbeth
• Interestingly the adaptation is being credited solely to Joel Coen as director and writer. Joel typically directs with his brother Ethan, and though he was credited as the sole director on their films until 2003 (due to weird DGA rules) the brothers have always directed together
• Between them Washington, McDormand, and Coen have 8 (!) Oscars.
• Coen also previously directed McDormand to an Oscar for Fargo
• Macbeth has been adapted for the screen countless times including versions by Orson Welles, Akira Kurosawa, Roman Polanski and Justin Kurzel
