This is so weird. Why would they hire her in the first place if they needed a fat actress? Why would she insist on a fat suit to the point of being fired? Why did she think it was a good idea to wear a fake nose to play a Jewish woman?

All three are excellent points. her decision making process is baffling.

Maybe they thought she would go full on Christian Bale?

sis, i agree with your fat suit comments, but it's not fair to make her fake nose request about racism. the woman in that picture has a very distinctive nose and julianne moore has a teeny tiny non-nose like dwight schrute. wearing prosthetics isn't fun, it's something julianne thought was necessary to better portray the character. are you going to come for nicole kidman for english-shaming virginia woolf too?

looooool @ the idea that wearing a prosthetic nose to play a Jewish woman is the same as wearing a prosthetic nose to play Virginia Woolf, c’mon.

Right? This is confusing. Maybe they wanted a thin woman in the role even tho the irl woman is fat, and she was set on it being “truer to life?”

That’s my assumption, that they wanted her to look recognisable as Julianne Moore still, and so that was why her ideas for a fat suit and prosthetic nose were refused, but who knows!
