March 13, 2019 In a New York Times profile, Amy Schumer revealed she came to bond with Lena Dunham through the internet vitriol that is frequently directed their way.
“Most people don’t know what it’s like to open social media in the morning and hear you are physically, socially and politically worthless.” Dunham calls it "a very specific experience" that helped the two women grow even closer.
Dunham states Schumer handles the online hate better than she does, "She’s titanium, and part of her skill is the ability to make it look easy."
Initially Schumer reveals the hate took a tool, "I was kind of retreating a bit in general after years of getting beaten down." but fellow comedian Dave Chappelle had to remind her there's still a lot of love for her out there.
Schumer's next project is a Netflix stand-up special titled 'Growing' that premieres March 19th.
