The creator also created New Girl, so it kind of has a similar tone to the later seasons of that show, but with kids. The heart of the series is the relationships between the parents (but they’re good parents and the kids are good little actors).

Brad Garrett is doing some really good work on the show, and Leighton is funny. She’s kind of like Lizzy Caplan’s character on New Girl but with a lot of the edges sanded off.
