I hope The Farewell goes the distance and that it’s good enough that Lulu Wang scores a lot of Best Director nominations. Every review from Sundance was a rave so I’m praying it doesn’t become a future episode of This Had Oscar Buzz.

Still not fully convinced about Little Women but I would love a Timmy and Saoirse press tour. Tentatively excited for The Goldfinch too.

ALSO! Since the Academy proved that they’re suckers for classic rock: Yesterday should be on this list. Directed by Danny Boyle and it has Beatles songs. If it does make it, I’ll be pissed because Across the Universe deserved.

Is Woman in the Window a remake? I feel like I’ve seen this one already.

It’s based on a novel of the same name that was released last year. A wild exposé about the author came out a couple of weeks ago: https://ohnotheydidnt.livejournal.com/113801780.html

No, but also like it's clearly copying other movies/books.

If you've seen the movie Copycat you've seen this because the book borrows heavily from it.

daniel gave a more interesting supporting actor performance in widows than any of the dudes who got nominated so i hope queen and slim is good cause he should've been nominated this year. same goes for brian tyree henry in everything he was in in 2018. i loved lady bird and i'll probably check out little women even though i wish greta had decided to do something else. and i'm also looking forward to the farewell.

seriously with that source material it's going to be like one step above a lifetime movie. i could see amy getting some praise if she does a good job (i mean emily blunt got a few nominations for the girl on the train, which i see as this film's peer).
