I don't think anyone should feel bad or tricked for believing him; I think it's always better to believe a victim. And if anything, this case proves that when false accusations happen they usually do get found out, so bloop.

This is exactly how I feel. It only took about a week for this to fall apart, so I'm not really concerned there are people regularly faking hate crimes and getting away with it.

No idea why people feel bad about it. He is a very very rare case. Most people do not lie about these kinds of things, so, I'm just confused why people feel bad for believing him.

Yeah, the system worked here, in that someone made a false report, and it was found to be false. Which it's a very rare occurrence that it happens, but when it does, there you go.

On the other hand, tons of other reports are not false, and they aren't being worked on/pursued to the degree they should be. Look at the backlog in rape kits we have across the country, or the complete lack of sentence for guilty people like Brock Turner.

Or today, a judge determined that our current Labor Secretary (Alexander Acosta) broke the law helping super-rich guy Jeffrey Epstein, because it violated the CVRA (Crime Victim's Right Act). Which yes, victims rights were not honoured the way the law is supposed to.

So yeah, it seems the system is better at finding out false reports than helping the victims of real assaults.
