NEWS: Met with @Netflix about @OneDayAtATime S4

They made clear that they love the show, love how it serves underrepresented audiences, love its heart & humor, but...we need more viewers. They'll decide soon.

I wish I felt more confident

When the main character was sad, had no one to turn to and was like, "Screw it, I'm going to binge eat all this food because at least I'll feel better while I'm doing it even though I'll feel worse about it/myself later" was that not realistic? Or how she thought her life would be so different/better now that she was thin -only to finally realize that thin or not, she's a shitty person who makes bad, selfish choices so her life was going to remain kinda crappy because she was crappy?

Or the main character's best friend that put up with her crap because she was semi in love with her, even if she didn't realize it? Then once she realized it, but also realized the main character was both straight and a terrible person took some baby steps forward to getting away from the main character including having a relationship with another woman, a woman that was basically almost a total opposite from the main character in every way?

Sure, the show had the unrealistic dark comedy stuff, but I thought the way it handled some things with a brutal honesty was great. Like binge eating for comfort.

I’ll give you those examples but honestly those moments were buried in all the insanity. Bob & Bob making out in the bathroom while Patty and Dixie fought on top of the truck, then Dixie faking being paralyzed, Patty then ruining Bob’s marriage by outing Bob to his wife, Bob & Bob’s confusing threesome with Coralee, Regina fucking an underage teen (Brick), Pattie killing Christian with a crow bar, etc. This show was more of a teen telenovela mess than a show with a clear and strong message about self love. We’ll just have to agree to disagree.
