Viola Davis was robbed for Doubt. She made Meryl Streep insignificant in every scene.

Also Halle was really hard done by imo. And was a victim of Anti blackness from Razzies and misogyny from Hollywood. She really should have the career that Charlize Theron has.

Viola was also robbed for the Best Actress Oscar for The Help against Meryl Streep in The Iron Lady. Viola gave the best performance of that year.

Judi Dench won Best Supporting Actress with about 12 minutes of screentime, so this situation has happened before.

Right? I just looked up all the other black actress wins and they've all been in supporting. Hattie in '39, Whoopi in '90, Jennifer Hudson in '06, Mo'Nique in '09, Octavia in '11, Lupita in '13, and Viola in '16.

Halle should really have a better career.

I really wish that wasn’t the case. 😔And Viola Davis needs a Best Actress Oscar like yesterday. She should have won for The Help. She should have submitted for Best Actress and won for Fences. There are plenty of other WOC that deserve one but it’s a shame she doesn’t have one.

She wouldn't have won BA for Fences because the campaign for Emma Stone in La La Land was hardcore. And it still pisses me off that Viola had to commit category fraud to get her Oscar.

She should have won for Doubt.

I was wondering when another Be Kind Rewind video would be up!

But ITA with the thesis of this and Halle really deserved better. I can't think of any Oscar winner who got more shit for any of their post-Oscar work than what Halle got for Catwoman.

The only thing that comes close was Eddie Murphy's bad press for Norbit just as he was in the running to win for Dreamgirls. Go figure we're talking about another black actor.

Both Norbit and Catwoman are terrible movies but you are right that both of those movies damaged Eddie's and Halle's careers more than, say, Jupiter Ascending fucking with Eddie Redmayne's Oscar chances.
