I'm so excited for Fighting with My Family. It looks cute and funny.

Alita looks alright visually and is probably great on the big screen but damn. What a waste of money.

Decided that I'm going to see Beale Street on Monday. Offerings of the blockbusters are a bore: aquaman, that tiffany haddish/hart movie, Corgi and the prodigy, not thanks.

I'm gonna watch Russian Doll and Umbrella Academy this weekend. I started Halt & Catch Fire this week, finished s1 and I love Donna.

I have been tanking in fantasy box office this quarter, and it looks like this week will be no different! That's awesome that Isn't It Romantic is doing so well on a tiny budget.

Last night, we watched a couple of movies at home:

High Flying Bird wasn't as good as I was hoping it would be. I really liked the cast, and the concept was interesting (and maybe a glimpse at the future?), but the execution was lacking. I like Steven Soderbergh, but he needs to stop the iPhone movie madness - it looked really cheap at multiple points throughout and I'm sure that's why.

Blockers was cute. I don't think they did a great job of justifying the whole plot of the movie, the script could have used improvement, and there was too much gross-out humor for me, but the good aspects helped outweigh my issues with it. The teen friendships were realistic and touching, it was very sex positive, and there were some parts that made me lol. More movies about women & girls, please!!

Something about this movie really irks me. A bunch of powerful people decide to make a movie that actually has a female lead character but she’s not even a real person. I don’t know if that’s articulating it well but yeah.

nah i get what you mean. it seems she's a male fantasy creation (probably is in the movie, i haven't seen it yet) yet the marketing is driving this as a female lead when... is it, though?
