I'm happy that these have gotten really great over the last decade or so as more and more great black directors rise to prominence. Glad to see a lot of love for Widows (which I enjoyed even if it was messy) and Beale Street (which I didn't love but certainly was a better awards pick than 90% of the shit that the Oscars nominated).

Also ouch that perpetual fav Ava DuVernay didn't score a directing nom for A Wrinkle In Time but the directors Quincy did. I haven't seen Quincy yet, was it good?

I was kind of shocked to see Scandal picking up a nom but it did end last year. Honestly feels like a million years ago since it was over.
